RØDE Rec LE App Reviews

No iPhone 7 port

It just doesnt let me record. Its like torching 6 bucks down the toilet. Gimme my money back!

Buggy Piece of Garbage

I just used this to record a 20-minute interview with a world leader. I watched every word in the waveform to be sure it did not clip. I stared at the screen that said "RECORDING" for the entire time. When I finished, the file produced was 57 seconds in duration and it was empty. When I restarted the program, the same file was 2 minutes and 2 seconds and still empty. This app is not suitable for any purpose.

Should be removed from the App Store

After buying a $100 mic the app companion advertised doesnt work, tells me I need to spend $8 to buy their other app. (They do have a free reporter app that looks good. When I used it to compare sound quality from their mic to the iPhone built in mic, there was little difference.)

Fire was better

This app was once known as Fire before Rode acquired the app. Now the app seems to be fairly weak at best. But I cant get the LE version to even work. The buttons are grayed out and the only button that stands out is a request to upgrade to the paid version. The reviews at the paid version repeat the same issues for users - people cant get the app to work, buttons grayed out, etc. Fire was a breeze to use and its curious why the app now is so buggy and difficult. Also a shame that a solid hardware company like Rode cant make this app sing.

I cant believe it!!

I have no clue what their budget is for this app but I bet it isnt much. Really upset this morning. I needed a recorder for my Rode Wireless Filmaker Mic and decided to give the app a try. I can not obtain the file. I assume you must upgrade to the paid version to get the file but I am not sure if thatll get the files off my computer. I am beyond ticked at Rode right now. It has actually made me wonder if their products are even worth the price they sell them at. I spent 400 dollars on a mic, at least give me an app that runs if your going to advertise about your app.

Get what you pay for

Yep, totally crappy, like its designed for the first iPhone ever and asks you to go pro all the time so you can pay for a crappy app with more functions. How do you delete the exported files? For the life of me theres no way I can tell aside from deleting the app. Well maybe thats what I should do.

Please fix this crash bug!

This light version is fine to record with but as I was trying to record with and film with my iPad air camera at the same time (thus having both apps running together) the rode rec app has been crashing every time I tried to get back to it or just open it, even after rebooting my iPad... Frustrating! I got some rec for a job that are stuck in there... What am I gonna say to my customer????

Work in progress ? At least its free.

Outdated interface with pre-iOS7 buttons, shiny metal slider. Nag screen proposing me to buy the full version every time I open the app. Recordings are named using the English date format, Im French, its not handy. Recording duration is translated incorrectly, it reads "à propos de x minutes" but should read "environ x minutes" ("about" as in "approximately").

Dont buy if you have an ipad 2

Does not work on the ipad 2 Rode said to get a refund from apple Apple said to get a refund from the credit card company Too many calls and i returned the rode mic at the store What ever happened to customer service?

Worst Recording App Ever!

Just spent over $100 on Rodes SmartLav+. Went to film an interview today and I literally could not even hit the record button. Finally after restarting my phone I opened the app only to find out it recorded absolutely nothing. Downloaded a different free app which worked perfectly. What a disappointment. After spending a decent amount of money on the mic, you would think Rode would have enough sense to include the app free. Seriously Rode, wake up!

Decent, but missing key features

Ive been using this app to record on my iPad with a Focusrite iTrack Solo. While the basic recording interface and editing feature set is fine, but there is a key weakness with the app that renders it practically unusable for me. Namely: the absence of a low latency monitoring mode. Yes, my interface does have a means of "direct monitoring"--however, even with the mic preamp cranked the audio comes in at such a low level that it requires a substantial amount of gain added by the app (I believe this to be a problem with iOS and not the app, so I dont hold this against it). Having said that, unless one monitors via "play through", one cannot hear the gain being added on input, and because the latency is so severe its incredibly distracting to perform with (especially vocals or voice over). Furthermore, the ability to reshape fades seems to have gone missing, despite being advertised as a feature. Id have contacted Rode about these problems directly, but there is nowhere on Rødes site to submit support requests about the app. Too bad, if they addressed these features I might be inclined to rate it much more favorably.

Great app

I love to make podcasts and videos with this app awesome and has no problems

Variable playback

I was expecting slower playback with out changing pitch. However it does shift the pitch when playback is slowed down.

Outstanding app

This recording app has surpassed all my expectations, and as an audio pro for over 40 years.... Im very critical. All the right audio formats, bitrates, clock speeds, everything needed. The little mic. Just goes with me everywhere.

Wont work with iPhone 3G

Software for iPhone 3G is too outdated. 4.2.1 iOS will not work with this app!!

Works just fine

I have used the LE version for several interviews, one lasting more than 30 minutes. The app worked like a trooper. I found the quickest method of moving files to my computer from my iPod Touch was through iTunes. The only drawback is that it took me a couple of attempts to figure out how to prepare the file for transfer. If my IQ were a little higher, it would have gone more quickly.

Quick! Let me leave a 1-star review because I’m mad…NOT

For the uninformed, just a simple swipe-to-delete to delete recordings. Love the new update! iPad UI is wonderful, stability has been vastly improved - couldn’t have asked for a better update.

App quits

The current version quits every time I try to File Share/Create an Audio File. The file may be too big (41 minutes), but then why isnt there a limit on time/file size if thats the case? I dont want to have to spend $6 to get this one file, but I guess I will if I have to.

Great!

After an intense search for a successor of the BlueFire app, I realized its reincarnation is Røde rec - solid as the origin, simple and 90% fitting to my needs... cannot verify the minus-reviews of other users. I ran it on an iphone 4s@7 and On an IPadMini@6... made large test recordings of >1hour. Works. The last star remains for separate input channel volume control. The app is one of the few ones which allows for stereo rec via usb! I use it for tape recording digital conversions: perfect! Worth to bye the full version.

Crashes

Crashed as soon as I opened it. I cant see this replacing digital recorders. I own the Zoom H1. This does not even come close.
